Ready, Set.... GRILL!!

Happy Memorial Day!

Summer is so close we can taste it.

While we remember those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country, we enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend with dishes that will kick off our summer.

It is the official return of pool parties, weekend barbecues, beach picnics and gatherings that start midday and melt into the night. It’s the return of our favorite recipes that shine in the summer heat.

We’ve got a lot of grilling recipes that you can use with your electric or charcoal bbq. Our new recipe for GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH hits all the right spots for the perfect summer bite.

But a lot of the dishes your family will love are simple to toss together and others can be popped in and out of the oven.

Let's Jump In!

Our Dream Memorial Day Menu

Our ideal Memorial Day menu is a mix of things we need to make in the moment and others we can make ahead like our Tropical Ceviche and Codito Salad (Pasta Salad).

The main event is our Oven Roasted Guava Ribs which we can bake in the oven low and slow. Then we are grilling our Sriracha wings and Grilled Avocado because it wouldn’t feel like a long weekend if that bbq isn’t smoking.

Don't Forget Dessert!

For Ani, dessert is a toss up between our Bread Pudding or Apple pie to honor her Uncle Bill who fought in the Vietnam War. Those were two of his favorite desserts. "He was a gringo from Alabama who married my Tia Lala. He made a delicious beef chili, played endlessly with my sister and I and had a serious sweet tooth that matched his recklessly kind personality."

For Cristy, dessert is an easier decision on a weekend like this- Key Lime Pie!! There's something about Key Lime Pie that just hits right in the summer in Miami. Things are heating up, and the creamy key lime with the graham cracker crust backdrop just has all the right notes.

Did Someone Say Cocktail?

A bbq wouldn’t be complete without a cocktail. Our Guava moscow mule and Berry mojito can be made in a big batch for a crowd. You also can never go wrong with a little Frozen Margarita or Rose Sangria!

Miami BBQ Hot Spots

If we aren’t cooking on Memorial Day then ordering bbq is the next best thing. Miami has come a long way with delicious and authentic bbq.

Here is a list of our favorite spots for pulled pork, roasted turkey, brisket and cornbread.
